You don't get certified organic by accident.

OUR FARM

Butchie’s Organic Farm is located in Cochecton, New York along the Delaware River.  The land was first farmed shortly after the first settlers arrived sometime in the 1750s.  Shortly after the Revolutionary War, Nathan Mitchell and his family established themselves on the land and began farming.  More recently the land was farmed by Alice and Neil Fitzgerald of River Brook Farm, who established an organic farm. The land, now farmed by us at Butchie’s Organic Farms, offers a variety of vegetables and meats.

OUR MISSION

Certified Organic (NOFA-NY) and we follow organic and humanly treated practices for all of its produce and animals.  Part of the growing sustainable movement, we are committed to the health of our community, soil, plants and animals.  Our methods and materials strive to have minimal impact to the environment and we do not use antibiotics, growth hormones, synthetic fertilizers or pesticides or alot of other things you would/should not want in your body.  We incorporate ‘biodiversity’ methods of farming.

WANT TO INTERN WITH US?

Picture yourself in a place where animals wonder in and out of their homes as they wish, traveling around the land at their leisure, eating fresh produce, bugs and grasses and breathing in fresh air.  After spending a day working on a project – with the goal of creating a world of healthy produce and meats – you these animals run and greet you and follow you to the Delaware River on your way to an afternoon swim or trip in a canoe down the river.  If this sounds like a place for you, an internship at Butchie’s Organic Farm may be for you.

Butchie's Organic Farm interns work on the farm, experiencing many facets of our diverse organic operation.  For example, interns may go to one or more farmers' markets or deliveries during the week.  This may involve getting up early (before the roosters).  You may spend your day, harvesting, washing, packing, and organizing produce, weeding, taking care of animals, writing the weekly email blast, planting seeds or other special projects.  This is not an internship for someone who does not enjoy getting a little dirty.  It can get hot during the day, but we can always cool down in the Delaware River that runs along the farm.

If you are interested in an internship, please fill out our application and send it to us.  Interns are hired on a rolling basis, there is not one set start date.  If we are interested in having you visit Butchie’s Organic Farm for an interview, we will contact you.
